French actor and producer Philippe Nahon made quite a name for himself for his multiple roles in fan favorite thriller and horror films, including Alexandre Aja's major cult hit High Tension (Haute Tension), and we've learned the sad news today that he has passed away.
Nahon died at the age of 81 after battling a long illness aggravated by the coronavirus. His passing was reported by French screenwriter and actor Alexandre Astier, who worked Nahon on the series "Kaamelott."
In the world of horror, Nahon was also featured as a nameless butcher in three films by Gaspar Noé - Carne, I Stand Alone, and Irréversible - as well as Humains, Calvaire, The Pack, Cannibal, Autopsy of Delights, Horsehead and Brotherhood of the Wolf.
With a career in theater and acting spanning nearly six decades, Nahon's first big-screen role came in 1962 with Jean-Pierre Melville's Lo spione. He also starred in Steven Spielberg's 2011 film War Horse. His final on screen appearance was in Aurélia Mengin's dark fantasy, Fornacis, which was released last year.
