The Sanderson Sisters are back this Halloween season, as the highly anticipated Hocus Pocus 2 has gotten an official release date on the Disney+ streaming service!
Disney announced this week that the "spooky sequel" to the Halloween cult classic will premiere on September 30th, 2022.
In Hocus Pocus 2, "It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were executed for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to figure out how to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve."
Bette Midler returns as Winifred "Winnie" Sanderson, with Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy back as her sisters, Sarah and Mary, respectively. Doug Jones is also returning as their undead lackey and fan favorite, Billy Butcherson.
Whitney Peak ("Gossip Girl"), Lilia Buckingham ("Crown Lake") and Belissa Escobedo ("American Horror Stories") play Becca, Cassie and Izzy, respectively, the three aforementioned teenagers who become the target of the Sanderson Sisters. Other cast members include Tony Hale ("Arrested Development"), Sam Richardson (Werewolves Within), Hannah Waddingham, Froy Gutierrez, Juju Brener, Taylor Paige Henderson, and Nina Kitchen.
The sequel is directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses) from a script by Jen D’Angelo ("Workaholics"), with Lynn Harris (The Shallows) serving as producer.
Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Rock of Ages) is executive producer along with Ralph Winter (Adrift) and David Kirschner (Curse of Chucky). Steven Haft (Tigerland) is co-producer.
