Earlier this month, the Indiegogo campaign for the Mahal Empire’s upcoming horror-western film Night of the Tommyknockers concluded, more than doubling its initial $100K goal before going to In Demand status, allowing the campaign to continue to raise funds past the first run. This latest fundraising effort pushed the total raised by the Mahals for their film projects past $1.5 million, and given their previous work, such as Art of the Dead and Attack of the Unknown, the money collected during these campaigns is put to damn good use.
Now, the Mahal Empire has announced two huge names joining the cast of Night of the Tommyknockers, now being directed by Michael Su, currently slated for release in 2021. First is Richard Grieco, best known for his roles in films such as A Night at the Roxbury and the aforementioned Attack of the Unknown. The latter of those roles won Grieco the award for Best Actor at the Shockfest Film Festival, with the film itself winning Best Director (Brandon Slagle) and the festival’s Best Feature Film prize. In addition to Night of the Tommyknockers, Grieco has two other projects slated for this coming year, Anadellia Rises and Saints Among the Dead.
Joining Grieco will be Tom Sizemore, known for his tough guy roles in films such as Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan. His IMDb page lists over 230 roles, with a couple dozen of those for roles in upcoming films. Sizemore has a Golden Globe nomination, a Screen Actors Guild award for Best Performance by a Cast, and over a dozen other film awards and nominations under his belt as well.
The synopsis for the film reads as follows:
When miners blast for gold in 1856, they accidentally release ancient creatures known as Tommyknockers! The Town of Deer Creek, Nevada is soon under siege with only a handful of survivors held up in the local saloon. Things go from bad to worse when a gang of criminals on the run from a famous bounty hunter arrive in the town to rob the bank. Now everyone is trapped in a deadly battle against these blood-thirsty monsters, each other and their own greed in this ultimate Horror Western showdown.
