IFC's 'Relic' Pulls Into Drive-Ins For Advance Run This Fourth of July Weekend

Relic IFC Drive-In Fourth of July

Ahead of its July 10th theatrical and Digital/VOD date, IFC Films will be bringing the Sundance hit Relic to drive-in theaters only as an advance week-run beginning July 3rd as studios delay new releases to later in the summer.

That's right, this means you can watch one of the year’s most highly anticipated genre films of the summer under the stars and fireworks this Fourth of July weekend!

Japanese-Australian director Natalie Erika James’ feature debut is a fresh and terrifying twist on the notorious haunted house tale.

In the film, "When elderly mother Edna (Robyn Nevin) inexplicably vanishes, her daughter Kay (Emily Mortimer) and granddaughter Sam (Bella Heathcote) rush to their family's decaying country home, finding clues of her increasing dementia scattered around the house in her absence. As Edna's behavior turns increasingly volatile, both begin to sense that an insidious presence in the house might be taking control of her. All three generations of women are brought together through trauma and a powerful sense of strength and loyalty to face the ultimate fear together."

Relic is produced by Anna McLeish, Sarah Shaw of Carver Films, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker of Nine Stories and Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Todd Makurath and Mike Larocca of AGBO executive producing.

Following an unprecedented indie run at drive-in theaters throughout May and April with The Wretched, Relic continues to lead IFC FIlms’ slate through a shifting and innovative summer strategy including additional directorial debuts from Shannon Murphy’s Babyteeth and Dave Franco’s The Rental.
