Late last year, Blue Underground celebrated the 40th anniversary of Lucio Fulci's gut-munching Zombie (aka Zombi 2, aka Zombie Flesh Eaters) with a Limited Edition 3-Disc Blu-ray release, which boasted a brand-new 4K restoration from the original uncut and uncensored camera negative, and the company has today revealed they'll be giving the eye-skewering classic its first ever 4K Ultra HD release!
This will also be the company's first foray into the 4K Ultra HD format.
Blue Underground announced on Facebook, "Hard at work on our very first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray! With DolbyVision HDR and new Dolby Atmos audio mix!! More info coming soon.."
Well, I don't know about you, but I've bought this damn movie way too many times... And I'll continue to do so, so long as each version released has something which sets it apart from the last.
The company also shared an image of the upcoming release, featuring the iconic "Worm Eye" poster art. Here's to hoping that they commision some new reversible art and bonus features!
In the 1979 film starring Tisa Farrow, Ian McCulloch, and Richard Johnson...
"Strangers searching for a young woman's missing father arrive at a tropical island where a doctor desperately seeks the cause and cure of a recent epidemic of the undead."
Do you plan on adding another copy of Zombie to your collection? Will this be your first time buying the film? Let us know in the comments!
