Michael Myers Comes Home and Discovers 'Halloween is Cancelled' in Humorous Short [Video]

CryptTeaze checked in on the viral YouTube video, Halloween is Cancelled; a short film that is approaching 90k views in three days. Director Andrew Kasch informed us that shooting took place in one day and one night and that the locations were in fact, the original locations in Pasadena, CA.

Halloween is Cancelled depicts Michael Myers stalking Haddonfield, IL during the pandemic. The beloved holiday, CANCELLED. Much to Michael’s disappointment, there is no one celebrating; no one to kill. Day turns to night.

Defeated, The Shape is startled by an anti-masker-conspiracy-Karen, who berates him with uninformed ‘nut-job’ insults, leading Michael to kill her. We watch through the eyeholes of the mask; the point of view John Carpenter made famous when young Michael kills his sister to begin the 1978 classic. Credits roll, wishing everyone a Happy Halloween while the Silver Shamrock theme from Halloween III: Season Of The Witch plays.

The short is extremely well done, capturing the Carpenter-esque atmosphere of the original, paying homage to all the things we love about the franchise, including Carpenter’s love for Panavision widescreen.

Andrew Kasch is a Los Angeles based short film and TV director.
