Neil Marshall's 'The Reckoning' Sells to RLJE and Shudder for 2021 Release

Arcana Studio and prolific media financier BondIt Media Capital, have announced that their co-financed new thriller The Reckoning, written and directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers, Doomsday) has sold to RLJ Entertainment and Shudder for a 2021 release.

"The Reckoning follows Grace Haverstock (Charlotte Kirk), a young widow, haunted by the recent suicide of her husband Joseph (Joe Anderson), who is falsely accused of being a witch by her jealous Landlord, Squire Pendleton (Steven Waddington), after she rejects his unwanted advances."

"Grace must endure physical persecution at the hands of England’s most ruthless witch-hunter Judge Moorcroft (Sean Pertwee) and face her own inner demons as the Devil himself starts to work his way into her mind."

The film is executive produced by Jas Boparai and co-written by Edward Evers-Swindell and Charlotte Kirk.

Earlier this year, The Reckoning was the opening night film at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival, also the film’s world premiere. Fantasia commented that the film is a "vivid, compelling and confrontational film whose themes are frighteningly pertinent to today’s concerns," adding that "it will knock the wind out of you."

The Reckoning will first be released in the US via RLJ Entertainment, followed by a streaming premiere on Shudder.

The film is being sold worldwide by Highland Film Group, with additional sales currently in negotiation following American Film Market.
