New Director Boards Fede Alvarez-Produced 'Texas Chain Saw Massacre' Reboot

Tohill Brothers Depart Texas Chain Saw Massacre Reboot

Earlier this year, we reported that Ryan and Andy Tohill (The Dig) would be helming the Fede Alvarez-produced reboot of Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre for Legendary, but we've now learned that those plans have changed.

Deadline reports that the Tohill brothers have departed the project due to "creative differences." The Chris Thomas Devlin-penned film was only a week into production in Bulgaria.

The site reports that David Blue Garcia, who served as cinematographer of Blood Fest and director of Tejano, has now been brought on to direct the reboot and all of the footage shot under the direction of the Tohill's will be scrapped entirely.

While plot details are currently under wraps, Deadline says the film is a modern-day sequel that "returns to the roots of the Hooper and Kim Henkel creation" and "brings Leatherface back to terrifying life for a new generation."

Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner) and Moe Dunford ("Vikings") star in the film.

Alvarez is producing alongside his frequent collaborator, Rodo Sayagues, under their Bad Hombre banner. Kim Henkel, Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy are producing via their Exurbia Films.
