New 'Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula' Trailer Features More Frenetic Zombie Action

Train to Busan Peninsula Official Trailer

Recently announced as an Official Selection of Cannes and acquired by Well Go USA earlier this year, director Yeon Sang-ho is back with Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula, a sequel that looks to up the undead ante with more thrills and a very unique post-apocalyptic version of South Korea.

The film's full trailer has been released today, featuring a group of survivors who set out on a money-grabbing mission into the wasteland, where they ust face lawless humans and an ever-growing zombie threat.

In the film, "Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in Train to Busan, Jung-seok (Gang Dong-won), a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances."

Peninsula appears to take inspiration from films like Mad Max, Doomsday and George A. Romero's Land of the Dead, while retaining the emotion, mayhem and brutal imagery that made the first film so great.

Lee Jung-hyun and child actress Lee Re also star.

An official release date has yet to be announced, but Well Go is expected to release Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula in the US and Canada later this year.
