NXT Will Revive 'Halloween Havoc' Event for October 28 Episode

During tonight’s broadcast of NXT TakeOver 31, WWE announced that, for the first time since 2000, there will be a Halloween Havoc event, this time under the NXT banner. The last time we saw an event under this banner was 2000’s event for WCW, which had a main event of a handicap match between Goldberg and Kronik.

So at least the last images of one of the most celebrated Pay-Per-Views in wrestling history doesn’t have to be that dumpster fire. Ahh, WCW in 2000, you manic thing, you.

The announcement came in a commercial during the event, in which it was announced that NXT wrestler and miniature tank enthusiast Shotzi Blackheart will host the night’s proceedings. The event is slated for the October 28 episode of NXT, slated for 8pm that Wednesday night on USA Network, though no matches have been announced at the time of this printing.

Previous classic WCW PPV banners re-purposed for NXT include WarGames, which was featured at three TakeOver events (though it has not been indicated for this year, unfortunately) and The Great American Bash, which saw a two-night event close with Keith Lee defeat Adam Cole in a Winner Take All match for both the NXT World and North American Championships.

More news on this event is sure to follow, and we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what the next few weeks of television bring for NXT and this revival of this legendary Pay-Per-View event.
