1091 Pictures has announced the acquisition of English-speaking world rights to the atmospheric social horror film When I Consume You, the third film from director Perry Blackshear, following its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival and U.S. premiere at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.
1091 Pictures is planning a digital release on August 16th, 2022.
After their participation in his two prior films, his psychological horror debut They Look Like People and aquatic creature feature fantasy horror The Siren, Blackshear once again teamed up with cast and creative collaborators MacLeod Andrews, Evan Dumouchel, and Margaret Ying Drake, alongside Libby Ewing, to deliver a heartfelt family drama about grief and redemption with When I Consume You.
"This gritty, urban folktale follows a woman (Ewing) and her brother (Dumouchel) as they hunt down a mysterious stalker hellbent on their destruction, testing the limits of love and loyalty in the face of ultimate evil."
The film is written, directed, and lensed by Blackshear, who also produced alongside Andrews, Dumouchel, and Ewing.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with Yellow Veil and 1091 on the release of When I Consume You," said Blackshear in a statement. "We love this film and can’t wait to bring it out into the world."
The deal was negotiated by Lev-Avery Peck for 1091 Pictures and Hugues Barbier, Justin Timms and Joe Yanick of Yellow Veil Pictures on behalf of the filmmakers.
