Hammer's 'The Phantom of the Opera' Coming to Blu-ray from Scream Factory This August

Phantom of the Opera Scream Factory Blu-ray

Scream Factory's love for Hammer Films continues this summer with an upgraded version of 1962’s The Phantom of the Opera on Collector's Edition Blu-ray!

Street dated for release on August 11th, the Blu-ray will come guaranteed with a slipcover in its first three months of release. The newly commissioned artwork you see below comes to us from artist Mark Maddox (Dracula: Prince of Darkness, Frankenstein Created Woman). This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will feature the original theatrical artwork.

New extras are in progress and will be announced on a later date, but Scream Factory has revealed they are proceeding with a new transfer of the film!

Pre-orders are available now over on Scream Factory's website. The first 500 orders from our site will receive an exclusive limited-edition 18” x 24” rolled poster of the exclusive new illustration.

In the film, "Mysterious mishaps bedevil a London opera house, but when tragedy strikes during an opening night performance, it's clear that these "accidents" are the deliberate work of a deranged madman – The Phantom. When Christine (Heather Sears), the young star of a new musical is contacted by the shadowy specter, her producer investigates, tracking the ghostly Phantom to his secret underground lair. More than an evil apparition, The Phantom proves to be a brilliant composer. Disfigured and nearly destroyed, he now demands his hellish revenge. Christine, his new star, is his one weakness, and he pays the ultimate price to keep his love alive."
