Announced around this time last year, Quibi has given the greenlight to a live-action adaptation of Junji Ito's Tomie, based on the hit horror manga series of the same name, with Alexandre Aja (High Tension, Crawl) set to direct.
Adeline Rudolph, who stars in the recently cancelled “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" will headline the cast.
"Tomie is the story of a beautiful high school girl (Rudolph) who goes missing and pieces of her body are discovered scattered around a small town. But what starts out as a murder mystery turns into something even more horrific."
Aja will both direct and executive produce the series, with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (The Conjuring 2, Aquaman) writing and also executive producing the Ito adaptation.
Hiroki Shirota on board as co-producer.
The project comes from Sony Pictures Television and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
