Rave the Reqviem plunged us into winter in the best way with their latest album Stigmata Itch (review), with a hook-heavy electro-metal disc with plenty of groove. Even months after hearing the tracks for the first time, I find myself humming some from time to time, or tapping out the drums in stolen moments.
Much to my personal enjoyment, the latest track from Stigmata Itch to get a music video is the energetic, nu metal-leaning “Phantom Pain.” Directed by Petter Perseius, the video sees the band as a group of mercenaries dressed to the nines, decked out with gas masks and smoke grenades. Good to know that old goth/industrial trope is alive and well in the year of our Lord 2021, right?
All jokes aside, this is one of my favorite songs from the album, and seeing it get a video is great. It’s a fun, badass clip for an equally fun and badass track.
