'Rick And Morty' Gets Trailer For Upcoming Fifth Season, Premiering This June

The Season Five “Rick and Morty” trailer dropped this morning! Not to jinx things, but June 2021 is looking pretty damn sweet!

There’s a lot going on in the trailer, from the appearance of Rick’s ocean nemesis “Mister Nimbus,” Rick vs. Rick battles, Rick battling through sobriety (my speculation based on the lack of spit running from his mouth), and... Hellraiser references?!

“Grab those chains,” Rick says, walking away from a house including a Beth-Pinhead mash-up, “It’s time we raise a little Hell!”

I don’t know about you, but this line got me pretty excited for the episode’s potential. Given what Justin Roiland and company did with their earlier A Nightmare on Elm Street parody, Scary Terry, I’m stoked to see what they do with Clive Barker’s signature creation!

Personally, I enjoyed the previous few seasons and felt they were worth the long waiting time. But this season sees an obviously increased animation budget, an expanded range of characters, and some further depth in Rick’s character development. This could potentially be the best batch of new episode we’ve seen in quite a while!

The fifth season premieres on Adult Swim on June 20th at 11pm EDT. The first four seasons are currently streaming on HBO Max.
