Airing between 2008 and 2014, and based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris, the HBO and Alan Ball-created series "True Blood" ran for a total of seven seasons (80 episodes), and according to TVLine, a reboot is already in the works.
The site reports that "Riverdale" and "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" developer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is overseeing and executive producing the reboot. Alan Ball is reportedly also on board as executive producer.
Aguirre-Sacasa is expected to co-write the pilot with Jami O’Brien ("NOS4A2"), who will also serve as an executive producer.
It's worth noting that HBO has not made any sort of official announcements or statements concerning the reboot, but it's expected to currently be in the very early stages of development.
In the original series, "Telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) encounters a strange new supernatural world when she meets the mysterious Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a southern Louisiana gentleman and vampire."
Alexander Skarsgård, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Lauren Bowles, Carrie Preston, Chris Bauer, Deborah Ann Woll, Joe Manganiello and the late Nelsan Ellis rounded out the cast.
