Last week, we learned that Fangoria and Full Moon's Castle Freak remake will be making its streaming premiere as a Shudder Exclusive on December 3rd, and today brings news that the new take on the late Stuart Gordon’s 1995 classic will also arrive on home video the following day!
RLJE Films will be bringing Castle Freak to Digital HD and On Demand on December 4th, and the film's official trailer has also been unveiled along with the release date announcement.
In the film, "After she’s permanently blinded in a tragic car accident, Rebecca’s receives some bizarre news: her long-lost-mother has recently passed away, leaving her their family’s ancestral castle. Traveling to the estate with a group of friends, Rebecca hopes it will be an opportunity for her to reconnect with a past she never knew—and a mother who seemingly left her behind."
"When mysterious happenings begin to occur and her friends begin to die, Rebecca must unravel her family’s mysterious history before she too falls prey to the Castle Freak."
Clair Catherine, Jake Horowitz, Chris Galust and Emily Sweet star.
Castle Freak was filmed in Albania, directed by Tate Steinsiek, and written by Kathy Charles. Barbara Crampton, star of the original film, served as producer.
Releasing just in time for the original film's 25th anniversary, the "bold reimagining" appears to stay true to Gordon's vision while adding a bit more Lovecraftian lore to the mix.
