What’s scarier than one upsmanship between aspiring horror writers? As anyone who’s ever attended a writers workshop can attest: NOTHING.
Writer-Director Josh Ruben’s 2020 feature debut Scare Me arrives on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, March 2nd.
Scare Me stars Josh Ruben as the fragile hack novelist Fred. He’s secluded himself in the woods in an attempt to complete his horror opus, and he meets Fanny (played by Aya Cash, The Boys). Fanny is already an incredibly successful novelist, and during a power outage in which they pass time by swapping scary tales, she’s not shy about ripping each of his stories apart and rubbing her success in his face. Are they simply telling stories…or is there an ulterior motive to it all?
Scare Me has been a smash hit on Shudder since its streaming debut in summer 2020. Now you can own your very own copy! Just be sure to keep in away from your works-in-progress…it may shatter your own delusions of artistic grandeur.
I previously discussed Scare Me on Day 6 of my 31 Days of Halloween series. See my brief review here.
