Rob Zombie's 'The Munsters' to Premiere on Netflix This September

Last week saw the release of the first official trailer for Rob Zombie's upcoming take on The Munsters, which is headed our way this fall. Today (July 18th), Zombie took to Instagram to announce when and where we can expect to catch the film's debut.

Arriving on or around the same date as the Tim Burton-directed series "Wednesday," The Munsters will be available to stream on Netflix this September. Unfortunately, a specific premiere date has yet to be revealed.

"This fall we are gonna spook-out like it’s 1964," Zombie writes. "Yep, The Munsters and The Addams Family are returning to the boob tube at the same time courtesy of @netflix." It’s been 58 years since this clash of the titans first happened. Perfect entertainment for your pumpkin carving party."

Zombie also included in his post a fall preview issue of TV Guide for the 1964/1965 season, when the two shows debuted on television just one week apart.

The Munsters tells "the greatest love story ever told as Herman and Lily’s crazy courtship takes The Munsters on a hauntingly hilarious trip from Transylvania to Hollywood."

The film stars Sheri Moon Zombie and Jeff Daniel Phillips as Lily and Herman Munster, respectively, with Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa.

The remaining cast includes Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfang, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, Jorge Garcia as Floop, Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson as Barbara Carr, Dee Wallace as the Voice of Good Morning Transylvania, Jeremy Wheeler as Mr Gateman, and Tomas Boykin as Lily's brother Lester.

Original "The Munsters" television series actors Butch Patrick and Pat Priest will also star, and deep cut characters Uncle Gilbert and Zombo will make an appearance.

The original series depicted the home life and misadventures of a family of benign monsters living in an American suburb, who never quite understand why people react to them so strangely.

The Munsters is produced by Jonathan Halperyn and Daniel Kresmery, and will be released by Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production arm of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group.
