Saban Films Picks Up 'Wrong Turn' Reboot for North American Release

Just last week, we learned that director Mike P. Nelson‘s (The Domestics) new take on the Wrong Turn franchise had officially received an "R" rating from the MPA, and Saban Films has now announced they've acquired the film, touted as a reboot, for a North American release.

Mister Smith Entertainment is handling worldwide sales on the production this week out of the AFM, where they will be screening for buyers. The film, previously titled Wrong Turn: The Foundation, has yet to receive a release date.

Wrong Turn is rated "R" for "strong bloody violence, grisly images and pervasive language."

The film follows a group of friends hiking the Appalachian Trail, who are confronted by "The Foundation," a community of people who have lived in the mountains for hundreds of years.

"Wrong Turn is a much-anticipated reboot that will not disappoint," said Saban’s Bill Bromiley.

Charlotte Vega (American Assassin), Matthew Modine ("Stranger Things"), Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night), Bill Sage ("Hap and Leonard"), Emma Dumont ("The Gifted"), Valerie Jane Parker ("Greenleaf"), Chaney Morrow (Haunt) and David Hutchinson ("American Horror Story") star.

Dylan McTee, Adrian Favela, Adain Bradley, Jeremy Ambler, Cory Scott Allen, Gary Ray Stearns, Rhyan Elizabeth Hanavan, Vardaan Arora, Mark Mench, Joshua Stephen Campbell, Jennie Malone, Brian James Fitzpatrick and Mark Angel round out the cast.

The franchise reboot was written by Alan B. McElroy, the writer of the original film. Robert Kulzer, Constantin Film, in association with James Harris, Tea Shop Productions, produced.
