UK-based distributor Second Sight Films were originally set to unleash their highly-anticipated 4K Ultra HD release of George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead this Halloween season, but we've now learned that plans have changed.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer to get their hand on the 7-disc Limited Edition box set that features 3 cuts of the film, as its been delayed from its original October 26th release date to November 16th.
The company wrote on social media today, "Due to current circumstances manufacturing & packing are going to take longer than expected. Apologies, we know it’s been a long wait and thank everyone for their continued patience as we head for home straight!"
On the bright site, Second Sight did recently announced a stunning new Limited Edition Blu-ray release of Neil Marshall's Dog Soldiers.
The Dawn of the Dead set features a brand new restoration from the original camera negative provided by producer Richard P. Rubinstein, new commentary track on the US Theatrical Cut, a new 59-minute documentary special feature, the 2014 documentary The Dead Will Walk, a 150-page hardback book, the movie’s novelization and so much more!

Please note, this is a Region B release but being that 4K Ultra HD discs are essentially Region Free, you'll want to grab the 4K Ultra HD set from Zavvi if you're here in the states without a Region Free player. However, only the first three discs in the 4K set are Region Free, the other disc is a Region B Blu-ray, so you'll still need a Region Free player to watch that one.
The Blu-ray set features all Region B discs, so unless you're some sort of masochist, do not buy the Blu-ray set if you're without the proper hardware, otherwise you'll just end up with a very nice paperweight!
If you're in the UK, you can pre-order the Blu-ray Set (£69.99) or the 4K Ultra HD Set (£79.99) from Second Sight. Those in the US can buy the 4K Ultra HD Set ($99.99) from Zavvi.
