Over the years, myths and mysteries have surrounded alleged "cursed" films and franchises whose casts and crew have been struck by misfortune and tragedy. Some of these include The Exorcist, Poltergeist and The Omen and The Crow. All of those films and more will be profiled in Shudder’s upcoming five-part docuseries, titled "Cursed Films."
Written and directed by Jay Cheel, the trailer has been released this week ahead of the show’s SXSW premiere. More details along with a poster designed by Matt Ryan Tobin can be found below.
"From plane accidents and bombings during the making of The Omen, to the rumored use of real human skeletons on the set of Poltergeist, these stories are legendary amongst film fans and filmmakers alike. But where does the truth lie? Cursed Films reveals the events that haunted these productions through interviews with experts, witnesses and the cast, directors and producers who lived through the real-life events. Were these films really cursed, as many believe, or just the victims of bad luck and bizarre circumstances?"
