'Spiral: From The Book Of Saw' Receives "R" Rating For "Grisly Bloody Violence And Torture"

Spiral From the Book of Saw R Rating

Darren Lynn Bousman‘s Spiral: From the Book of Saw appears to be just what the Saw franchise needs to rekindle the interest of horror fans around the world, with it's rather obvious Se7en-inspired setup and the inclusion of two Hollywood heavyweight actors: Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson.

And if you had any worries this new film would be skimping on the red stuff, you can rest assured knowing that's certainly not the case, as the film has been rated "R" by the MPAA.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw secured its "R" rating for "sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, pervasive language, some sexual references and brief drug use."

"Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game."

Spiral is produced by the original Saw team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules. The film is written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger from a story by Rock.

Lionsgate brings the franchise back to the big screen on May 15th, 2020.
