Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot' Gets Movie Tie-In Edition for Upcoming Remake

A new movie tie-in edition of Stephen King's Salem's Lot has made its way onto Amazon this week, offering up our very first look at the upcoming film adaptation of the horror classic that Warner Bros. Pictures is supposedly bringing to theaters this fall.

The re-release of King's 1975 novel, which hits store shelves on August 2nd, features the words "now a major motion picture," leading us to believe Salem's Lot is still on target to hit theaters on September 9th, but with just about two months to go until said theatrical release, it's insanely odd that we've yet to see any sort of marketing, especially with Gary Dauberman (The Nun, It, Annabelle Comes Home) sitting in the director's chair.

Although, it's totally possible the studio wants to cram all of its marketing resources into the final weeks leading up to the film's release.

Looking like a teaser poster of sorts, the new book cover features the Salem’s Lot cast standing in a dense fog, with the iconic Marsten House looming in the distance. Check it out below!

The ensemble cast includes Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick) as the film's lead Ben Mears, Alfre Woodard (Annabelle), Bill Camp (The Outsider), William Sadler (Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, The Shawshank Redemption), Makenzie Leigh (The Assistant), Spencer Treat Clark (Glass), Nicholas Crovetti, Jordan Preston Carter, Cade Woodward, Debra Christofferson, and Pilou Asbaek.

James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring) will produce Salem's Lot 2022 alongside Roy Lee and Mark Wolper for Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema. Dauberman wrote, directed and is executive producing the film.

In Salem's Lot, "Writer Ben Mears has returned to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot with the hope that moving into a dilapidated mansion, long the subject of town lore, might help him get a handle on his life and provide inspiration for a new book. But when two young boys venture into the woods and only one comes out alive, Mears begins to realize that there may be something sinister at work."

"In time, he comes to understand that his hometown is under siege from forces of darkness far beyond his wildest imagination. And only he, with a small group of allies, can hope to contain the evil that is tearing the town apart."

We expect to be seeing a trailer online soon, so stay tuned for that!

Shortly after the release of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Tobe Hooper directed the very first adaptation of Salem’s Lot back in 1979, while a miniseries was released in 2004, directed by Mikael Salomon. A sequel to the Hooper's film, A Return to Salem's Lot, was directed by Larry Cohen and released in 1987.
