Rumors have been floating around the web for a while now regarding a remake of Peter Medak’s 1980 supernatural horror classic The Changeling, and it appears the project is finally coming to fruition.
Deadline reports today that Finnish filmmaker Anders Engström ("Taboo", "Hanna", "Thicker Than Water") will be directing the upcoming remake for producer Joel B. Michaels (Terminator Salvation, Stargate), who also produced the original film.
The Changeling follows a musician who, after the death of his young daughter, returns to his childhood home. After a series of terrifying events, he begins to unlock the mystery of the dead child that haunts his home along with a terrible family secret.
The site also notes that.the film's script by Tab Murphy's is said to introduce "several new twists and turns."
Uwe Schott and Stefan Arndt of X-Filme (Babylon Berlin) are also producing alongside Cornerstone’s Alison Thompson and Mark Gooder, who will be serving as executive producers.
Cornerstone Films will be shopping the project at the upcoming Cannes virtual market.
