Following his passing back in 2013, cinema fans around the globe continue to celebrate the remarkable career of the movie industry’s most admired and influential special-effects auteur, the legendary Ray Harryhausen.
Today would've been Harryhausen's 100th birthday, and Turner Classic Movies are paying tribute to the special effects titan with a five-film marathon, starting tonight at 8:00pm.
Leaving no doubt as to Harryhausen’s seminal influence on modern-day special effects, the marathon features some of Harryhausen's most beloved works, including The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, Mysterious Island, Mighty Joe Young and Clash of the Titans.
If you're unfamiliar with the works of Ray Harryhausen, I highly suggest tuning in. There's a damn good reason as to why his films have inspired and continue to inspire some of cinema's most celebrated filmmakers.
