Production began this week in Atlanta on a new and original esports livestream dating show "Game Time," which will be co-hosted and executive produced by Terrifier star Catherine Corcoran, who says the show was inspired by her experience with gaming in the horror/genre convention circuit.
The new series, which fuses marketing and esports powerhouses Logitech, Motown Records, ACE Media, ReKT Global and one50one, is a virtual, interactive, livestream dating show featuring solely esports contestants. Comedian Jordan Rock, star of Netflix's "Love" and the younger brother of Chris Rock, will also host.
The filming will be in studio and virtually and will include interviews, backstories, b-roll and an online competition. The pilot will debut exclusively on Capitol Royale.com.
Created by Metro Esports and Entertainment founder Shaon Berry, "Game Time" will pair elements from hit shows including "The Dating Game," "The Newlywed Game," and dating reality shows like "Blind Date," "The Bachelor," and "The Bachelorette," fused with modern, millennial dating app culture with the same universal theme — falling in love over Xbox or PlayStation online.
"Video game competition becomes a lot more exciting when the first prize wins the man or woman of your dreams," said Shaon Berry, Executive Producer Game Time. "Our talent is diverse, and their backstories are compelling and most importantly, with all the complicated realities of millennial dating the competition definitely isn’t friendly, and we absolutely love it."
"Competition during the episodes is fast and bachelors and bachelorettes get to select and compete against suitors for the ultimate gamer dream date," the press release adds.
Talent contestants on the series will range from gaming legends to YouTube stars to esports champs to DJs and NBA players.
Marc Byers (Motown Records General Manager), Troy Brown (one50one CEO), Andrea Thompkins (ACE Media Corp CEO), and Jordan Rock are also executive producers.
