We’re within striking distance of the release of Tetrarch’s hotly-anticipated album Unstable, and we’ve gotten two awesome singles thus far, between the chug-tastic “I’m Not Right” and the headbang-along “You Never Listen.” It may seem far-fetched to say that the latest single from this nu metal quartet blows the first two out of the water, but on “Negative Noise,” they’ve really outdone themselves.
This latest effort is a full-bore, “put your head down and fucking go” type of jam, with frontman Josh Fore using mostly growls, save for the chorus. Diamond Rowe, easily one of the best modern-day guitar heroes, puts in a shred-tastic performance in her soloing, and the lead break barrels into a blast-beat-ridden bridge before looping around to the chorus. In a time where “heavy” is such a pointless word anymore, Tetrarch have found their brand of heavy and taken it to the moon.
Fore breaks down the song and its meaning further, saying:
"'Negative Noise' is one of the heaviest songs on the new record. It mixes big riffs with thick bass, extreme drums and some of the most intense screams I’ve ever done. One of the highlights of the song is Diamond’s guitar solo that she absolutely killed and I know will turn so many people's heads.
Lyrically, the song is about constantly being surrounded by negativity and people trying to pull us in a million directions. More than ever, there is so much static around us, and we wanted to write a song about dealing with it and blocking out all of the noise."
And for the record, yes, Diamond’s solo absolutely turned my head.
Unstable is due out on April 30th via Napalm Records. Pre-order it here, and check out the music video for “Negative Noise” below:
