I don’t usually think of McG when I think of the great horror-comedy directors, but with 2017’s The Babysitter, I didn’t have much other option but to reconsider. With a throwback plot line involving cults, coming-of-age, and a Culkin-esque protagonist, the film takes itself only as seriously as it needs to, which is not very. Now, the well-received slasher send-up is coming back for round two.
Today, it was announced that The Babysitter: Killer Queen will come to Netflix on September 10th. The film will follow Cole (Judah Lewis), two years removed from his battle with old babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving) and her cultist friends. The film will also star Bella Thorne, Hana Mae Lee, and Robbie Amell.
Dan Lagana has assumed writing duties for the film, taking over from the first film’s Brian Duffield. McG directs, while Zack Schiller and Mary Viola return as producers alongside McG. Production took place last fall, with the film wrapping up sometime last October.
