Shot back in 2017 and described as a beautifully gruesome mix of H.P. Lovecraft meets Wrong Turn or The Hills Have Eyes, the Charlie Steeds (Escape from Cannibal Farm, Winterskin) directed British horror The Barge People is finally making its way to DVD here in the states!
Christopher Lombard wrote the film which centers on a group of friends who find themselves preyed upon by fish-like humanoids, much like Stuart Gordon's Dagon.
The practical effects heavy, fish mutant creature feature is set on the canals amid the glorious British countryside, two sisters and their boyfriends head off for a relaxing weekend away on a barge, unaware of the flesh-eating fish mutants lurking in the water, ready and waiting to feed.
The film stars Kate Davies-Speak, Mark McKirdy, Makenna Guyler, Natalie Martins, Matt Swales, Kane Surry, Emma Spurgin Hussey, Tim Cartwright, David Lenik, Barrington De La Roche, Carl Andersson, Harrison Nash and Sam Lane.
The Barge People comes to DVD on August 18th, 2020 via RLJE Films.
