'The Black Phone' Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Now on Vinyl from Waxwork Records

Partnering with Blumhouse, Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Doctor Strange) is returning to his horror roots this month with The Black Phone, which is headed to theaters on June 24th.

But first, Waxwork Records has collaborated with Back Lot Music to present The Black Phone Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on vinyl.

The Black Phone soundtrack features 180 gram 2xLP "The Grabber" colored vinyl (Black & White Burst and Blood Red & Black Smoke), heavyweight gatefold packaging with matte satin coating, and a 12" x 12" art print insert.

Head on over to the Waxwork Records website to pre-order your copy for $38. These are expected to begin shipping on July 14th, 2022.

The soundtrack for The Black Phone was scored by Mark Korven, the mastermind behind The VVitch, The Lighthouse, and Into the Tall Grass. Korven, a Toronto-based and award-winning composer, is a multi-instrumentalist known for his innovation and experimental approach to film scoring, and in 2016 conceived the notorious horror musical instrument, The Apprehension Engine.

Based on an eponymous short story by Joe Hill, The Black Phone follows Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, who is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

The film stars four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke in the most terrifying role of his career and introduces Mason Thames in his first ever film role.
