A little over a year ago, we learned that the Collins family were gearing up to make their return to the small screen in a brand new "Dark Shadows" television series from The CW and Warner Bros Television.
Unfortunately, that won't be the case, as the series has already gotten the axe...
As reported by TV Line this week, "Dark Shadows: Resurrections," which would have been a continuation of the original cult classic series, "never made it to the pilot stage and at this point is no longer in development at The CW."
Deadline previously detailed, the re-imagined show was set to be "a modern-day continuation of the strange, terrifying, and sexy saga of the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine — a mysterious, influential, publicity-shy group hiding a ghastly secret: For the past 400 years, they’ve lived under a curse that bedevils their blue blood with every imaginable supernatural creature and horror."
The pilot for the hour-long gothic horror drama was written by Mark B. Perry (Revenge, Ghost Whisperer).
Dan Curtis created the original series that aired between 1966 and 1971. In recent decades, Curtis himself has attempted to revive "Dark Shadows" with a 1995 series and 2005 telepic. Tim Burton also directed a campy feature based on the series, which was released in 2012. A documentary titled Master of Dark Shadows was also released last year.
