"The Fiend" Bray Wyatt Returned At WWE 'Fastlane,' Drew Comparisons To Iconic Horror Villains

Tonight at WWE Fastlane, the maiden Pay-Per-View event to stream on NBCUniversal’s Peacock, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt returned to save his Firefly Fun House cohort Alexa Bliss, in perhaps the best use of a wrestler coming through the ring since Undertaker dragged Diesel to Hell all those years ago. Even better, the commentary team sold it like it was the craziest thing going on that night, and given the more or less lackluster card up to that point, that tracks.

At TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, Randy Orton defeated The Fiend in a Firefly Inferno Match, giving us the insane visual of The Fiend ablaze, and while it was obviously a post-produced sequence that could more or less only happen in this era of Pandemia, damn if it wasn’t memorable. This led to more of “Fun House” Alexa Bliss (aka the best thing she’s done in her entire WWE career) on television, which lent itself to an intergender match on tonight’s show.

Check out some highlights from the Firefly Inferno Match below:

This is likely leading to some sort of stipulation match between Orton and Wyatt at WrestleMania, dare I infer a Firefly Fun House Match. Seeing how Orton’s in-ring style is, well, methodical (to use a word that the commentators use for his matches and his alone), something as dramatic and theatrical as the Firefly Fun House could make for a fun showing, though with this year’s event having a live crowd, how would that look?

And if they’re not doing that… where else can they go, after one of the two wrestlers in the feud was lit on fire a few months back?

But that’s not even the best part of this. The internet, as it is wont to do, had some opinions, namely Luke Owen of WrestleTalk, who likened the new charred appearance of “The Fiend” to Chucky in Child’s Play 2:

Not to be outdone, Botchamania contributor Mercy Buzzard compared “The Fiend” to Toxie of The Toxic Avenger fame, and I think they won the internet with this one:

WWE Fastlane is streaming on-demand on Peacock.
