American Horror Story is seeing its first year in the past ten without a season airing within it, thanks in no small part to the ongoing pandemic. While there are only so many details that have been announced for the upcoming tenth season, namely stars including Macaulay Culkin, Evan Peters, and a returning Sarah Paulson, we know that the Emmy-winning series isn’t going anywhere, as FX renewed the show through season 13 back in January. Further, a spinoff series titled American Horror Stories was formally announced by series co-creator Ryan Murphy.
Within the last week, fans have been treated to the new promotional posters for the upcoming tenth season of the main series, as well as the spinoff Stories, and Murphy has again taken to Instagram to discuss what we can expect from the new tales. For season ten’s promotional poster, the caption is “Look sharp,” with an image of an open mouth and what appears to be a tattooing implement, though you’d be forgiven to mistake the latter for a dental tool. The image for American Horror Stories comes with the caption “You didn’t think that was it, did you?” with a shattered mannequin head, within which a black widow spider has already made a web.
Speaking on American Horror Stories, Murphy had the following to say:
“It's the AHS spin off. We are doing 16 one hour stand alone episodes delving into horror myths, legends and lore...many of these episodes will feature AHS stars you know and love. More to follow…”
At this time, no formal release date for either series has been announced, though it is anticipated that one or both of them will utilize FX on Hulu for streaming.
