The Second 'The Outer Worlds' Expansion "Murder on Eridanos" Is Out Now

Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division have enjoyed great success as of late with their space-set action RPG The Outer Worlds, which released in October of 2019, with a Switch port the following June, as well as the first of two announced DLC sets, Peril on Gorgon. Calling it Fallout in space is overlooking the overt satire in the game, with the humor coming from the skewering of capitalism and its disregard for human life in the name of profit.

I’d call that commentary timely, but it’s not really anything new, is it? Also, we can just gloss past the fact that Obsidian made what is considered one of the stronger Fallout games if we choose, but clearly I have woken on this day and chose violence.

On the subject of violence, for the game’s second expansion, Murder on Eridanos, things take a neo-noir turn, as a famous actress nicknamed Halcyon Helen has been found dead. From there, players will explore the island of Eridanos, including the Purpleberry Orchards and Rizzo’s Distillation Station. The pack includes the opportunity for over a dozen weapons, over twenty quests between the main Murder storyline, faction tasks, and side quests, and even more endearing characters to interact with.

From there, it’s up to you to, as the launch trailer insists, find a killer or die smiling.

The DLC is available for $14.99 USD as a stand-alone offering, or as part of the Expansion Pass with Peril on Gorgon and Murder on Eridanos both included for $24.99 USD. Don’t forget about the Board-Approved Bundle with the base game and both DLC, for the completionists out there.
