"The Umbrella Academy" Season 2 Gets July Premiere Date [Video]

"On October 1, 1989 “seven extraordinary humans were born. On July 31, 2020, they return."

As you read above, Netflix announced this morning they'll be reopening "The Umbrella Academy" for some summertime mayhem with the series' dysfunctional family of superheroes. The news hit the web in the form of a quarantine-made video featuring the cast dancing to Tiffany’s 1987 rendition of "I Think We’re Alone Now," which can be viewed below.

“On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by a billionaire who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. Now, the six surviving members reunite upon the news of their father’s passing and must work together to solve a mystery surrounding his death. But the estranged family begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.”

"The series stars Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe and Kate Walsh.

Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood and Marin Ireland will join the cast for Season 2.

Steve Blackman serves as executive producer and returns as showrunner for the new season.

"The Umbrella Academy" is based on the hit indie comic book series of the same name by My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, published by Dark Horse Comics.

The second season will consist of 10 all-new episodes.
