'The Unfamiliar' Trailer Mistakes a Malevolent Enemy for PTSD

The Unfamiliar Trailer Henk Pretorius

Dark Matters Studios has debuted a new trailer for upcoming horror The Unfamiliar, which will be available on digital platforms in the US on August 21st 2020, and in the UK on September 11th, followed by South Africa on October 28th.

In the horror-thriller from Henk Pretorius, a British Army doctor comes back from a war, thinking that she has PTSD only to discover that there is a more daunting malevolence at work making the life that she knew unfamiliar.

The full synopsis reads...

"British Army Doctor, Elizabeth “Izzy” Cormack, returns from war to rekindle her relationship with her estranged family. Izzy notices numerous inexplicable activities in her house that her husband believes are due to her suffering from PTSD as a consequence of war. Izzy militantly pieces the daunting puzzle together to reveal a terrifying, invisible enemy that has infested her entire family. In a heroic attempt to save her family, she is pulled into a dark underworld in Hawaii to explore ancient mythology."

"Director Henk Pretorius has managed to use horror tropes as a fresh and captivating way to guide, or rather, misguide the audience along with a twisted and suspenseful plot — a layered film worth watching twice," said producer Llewelynn Greeff.

Jemima West, Christopher Dane, Rebecca Hanssen, Rachel Lin and Harry McMillan-Hun star.

Pretorius wrote The Unfamiliar alongside Jennifer Nicole Stang, who is responsible for the stellar short film The Whistler.
