Theatrical Release for Brandon Cronenberg's 'Possessor' Moved Up a Week to October 2nd

Earlier this month, we learned that NEON was set to release the uncut version of Brandon Cronenberg's sci-fi/horror film Possessor into theaters nationwide on October 9th, but it appears plans have been altered just a little.

Exhibitor Relations Co. reports that Possessor has been moved up a week and will now release theatrically on October 2nd, taking the spot of the recently delayed Wonder Woman 1984.

Described as "an arresting sci-fi thriller," Possessor follows elite, corporate assassin Tasya Vos (Andrea Riseborough). Using brain-implant technology, Vos takes control of other people’s bodies to execute high profile targets.

"While Tasya has a special gift for the work, her experiences on these jobs have caused a dramatic change in her. In her own life, she struggles to suppress violent memories and urges. As her mental strain intensifies, she begins to lose control, and soon she finds herself trapped in the mind of a man (Christopher Abbott) whose identity threatens to obliterate her own."

Tuppence Middleton, Rossif Sutherland, Sean Bean and Jennifer Jason Leigh also star.

Stay tuned for a home video release date announcement.
