After last night's episode of NXT, there are two championship matches slated for the upcoming Halloween Havoc special on October 28th. These two contests will feature the return of an infamous WCW gimmick, "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal."
The first match will feature "The Genius of the Sky" Io Shirai defending her NXT Women's Championship against "The Poison Pixie" Candice LeRae, in a rematch from October 4th's NXT TakeOver 31. LeRae earned her return match after defeating Shotzi Blackheart on last night's NXT. The "Spin the Wheel, Make a Deal" gimmick will add a stipulation to the title match, though there has been no indication as to what possible match types will feature.
Shirai won the NXT Women's title back in June at TakeOver: In Your House in a triple threat match featuring Rhea Ripley and then-champion Charlotte Flair.
The second "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal" match will be for the NXT North American Championship, as titleholder Damian Priest will train his sights on challenger Johnny Gargano, in another TakeOver 31 rematch. In his pursuit of the North American title, Gargano and wife Candice LeRae look to become the first husband and wife team of champions in NXT history.
Priest won his championship in a five-man ladder match for the vacant title at NXT TakeOver: XXX over SummerSlam weekend in August. His most recent defense was on last night's episode against the returning Dexter Lumis, who was originally supposed to be in the TakeOver ladder match.
Also announced for the Halloween Havoc special is Raquel Gonzalez vs. Rhea Ripley, in a match that could see title contendership ramifications.
Halloween Havoc airs on the USA Network live from the Capitol Wrestling Center on Wednesday, October 28th, starting at 8pm EST. NXT Superstar Shotzi Blackheart will be hosting the event.
