After premiering on Shudder back in 2019 and digital platforms last October, Wild Eye Releasing has revealed details on a Collector's Edition Blu-ray of Smoke and Mirrors: The Story of Tom Savini, the critically-acclaimed documentary that explores the celebrated career of the special makeup effects legend, actor, director, and stuntman.
"From his childhood in Pittsburgh to his tour of duty during Vietnam, to his beginnings with George A. Romero and beyond, Smoke and Mirrors is the defining documentary on the life and career of a horror icon."
Directed by Jason Baker, the documentary features interviews with the man himself, Danny McBride, Robert Rodriguez, Danny Trejo, Alice Cooper, Greg Nicotero, Sid, Haig, Doug Bradley, Caroline Williams, Tom Atkins, Jerry Only, Corey Feldman, Howard Berger and even the late, great George A. Romero.
Blu-ray extras include commentary with Tom Savini and director Jason Baker, hours of Tom’s personal video archives, including behind the scenes footage from movies like Day of the Dead, From Dusk Till Dawn, Creepshow, Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2, and a collectible folded poster.
