Tommy Lee Wallace Shows Exactly How He Converted a Shatner Mask Into a Michael Myers Mask [Video]

Tommy Lee Wallace Recreates Michael Myers Mask Shatner

As most horror fans already know, the mask Michael Myers wears in the original Halloween was converted from a mask based on William Shatner's "Star Trek" character Captain Kirk. Who'd have thought that budget and scheduling constraints mixed with a bit of creative ingenuity by Tommy Lee Wallace would lead to such an iconic mask that's stuck with us horror fans for over four decades?

Well, if you've ever wanted to know just how Wallace went about turning Captain Kirk into The Shape back in the '70s, Horror's Hallowed Grounds host and all-around great guy Sean Clark has uploaded a really cool video that details the process. In the video, Wallace recreates the mask just as he did for John Carpenter all those years ago.

"This is a video we made back in 2014 I believe," Clark explains. "It was made with the intention of being part of the Halloween: The Complete Collection Box Set. For years fans have asked Tommy Lee Wallace for the details of exactly how he converted the William Shatner mask into The Shape. For the first and only time Tommy takes us step by step and shows exactly what he did back in 1978."
