[Trailer] Dark Sky Films Acquires Pandemic Thriller 'Before the Fire' for Summer Release

Dark Sky Films Acquires Before the Fire

Originally slated to premiere at the now-postponed 2020 of Cinequest Film Festival, Deadline reports that Dark Sky Films has acquired all North American distribution rights to timely pandemic thriller Before the Fire (previously titled The Great Silence).

Before the Fire comes from female duo Charlie Buhler, who made her directorial debut, and Jenna Lyng Adams of Netflix series "The Kominsky Method," who wrote and stars in the film.

"The film follows Ava Boone (Adams), a Hollywood actress whose rising career is cut short when a pandemic influenza sends her back to the small town she fled years before, only to find something more dangerous than any virus waiting for her. Instead of shelter, her South Dakota hometown brings her face to face with unforeseen peril."

Adams is joined by Jackson Davis ("Vida"), Ryan Vigilant (Naked As We Came), and Charles Hubbell.

"We fought to make this movie, because we felt that there was a very specific expectation about the types of stories women were able to tell. Male directors shift between genres much more fluidly, and I think you can feel it in the types of stories that make it to the screen," said Buhler. "But Jenna and I both love action, we both love sci-fi, so we wanted to make a female protagonist that we women could really rally behind."

Slated to release in the US this summer, give the Before the Fire trailer a spin below.
