After being represented by Raven Banner and presented to potential distributors at the European Film Market earlier this year, JoBlo has now shared the official trailer for Skull: The Mask (shortened from Skull: The Mask of Anhangá), a gory Brazilian slasher written and directed by Armando Fonseca and Kapel Furman.
Skull: The Mask is an original project created by Furman's Infravermelho Filmes. The feature focuses on the incarnation of a supernatural serial killer when a mystical artifact, the Mask of Anhangá, has a host and initiates a series of visceral sacrifices. Both the film's history and its entities were based on pre-Columbian mythology.
"Missing for decades, a mystical artifact rises again in the city of São Paulo. incarnating a primordial being and starting a series of bloody crimes. Officer Beatriz Obdias is in charge of the investigations, while Manco Ramirez, heir of the artifact's guardian, hunts the destructive creature."
The film stars Natallia Rodrigues, Ivo Müller, Ricardo Gelli, Wilton Andrade, Rurik Jr., Tristan Aronovich, Wagner D'Ávilla, Thiago Stechinni, Eduardo Semerjian, Greta Antoine, Guta Ruiz and Gilda Nomacce.
There's currently no word on deals made for distribution here in the states, but we'll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear anything! If you're a fan of practical gore and recent Brazilian horror films, such as The Nightshifter and The Cannibal Club, keep this one on your radar!
In the meantime, check out the insanely brutal trailer below!
