You can’t escape a mother’s love.
Arriving Mother's Day weekend, Run is a new thriller from Searching director Aneesh Chaganty, and we have the official trailer to share with you following its exclusive premiere on Entertainment Weekly earlier this morning.
In the film, "American Horror Story" favorite Sarah Paulson plays an overprotective mother who raises her daughter Chloe (Kiera Allen) in isolation. Soon, Chloe's life is turned upside down when she begins to suspect her mother is keeping a dark secret from her.
"Making the movie was one of the more exciting, invigorating times I’ve ever had on a set," Paulson told EW. "And that’s partly due to the absolute fearlessness of Aneesh and Kiera, and how incredibly game they were, and the creativity that was shot through everybody’s choices. It was a very exciting place to be."
Chaganty co-wrote the film with Sev Ohanian. Onalee Ames (The Lazarus Project, Faces in the Crowd) and Pat Healy (Cheap Thrills, The Innkeepers) also star.
Paulson tells the source that her character was partially inspired by Piper Laurie’s performance as Margaret White in the original Carrie. The similarities are definitely seen in the trailer, but there are also an undeniable hints of Misery's Annie Wilkes and Ma's Sue Ann in Paulson's character.

Run will be released in theaters on May 8th, 2020.
