Promising to be the definitive documentary on the life and career of the legendary star of Frankenstein, The Body Snatcher and the voice of The Grinch, Boris Karloff: The Man Behind the Monster has this week unleashed a magnificent 5-minute trailer!
Directed by Thomas Hamilton, who co-wrote with Ron MacCloskey, the documentary is soon to be released by Voltage Films Ltd.
Boris Karloff: The Man Behind The Monster features over 50 interviews ranging from legendary figures such as Roger Corman, Christopher Plummer, Guillermo Del Toro, Joe Dante, Ron Perlman and John Landis, as well as less renowned yet equally fascinating actors and directors who had revealing memories to share about Boris across 30 years of his film, stage and TV careers.
The film features numerous first hand memories of working with Karloff from as far back as 1939’s Son of Frankenstein. Covering all aspects of his career and life, interviewees include many who acted with or directed Boris on film, stage and TV, some who saw "first hand" his commitment to the Screen Actors Guild and other causes.
In addition to shining a spotlight on Karloff’s life and work, the documentary will also chart the evolution of horror films from the 1920’s to the late 1960’s, and in particular examining the moments when the genre fell out of favor, and how Karloff survived.
