Upcoming Dual-Reality Psychological Horror Game 'The Medium' Gets a Live-Action Trailer

I’m calling it, right here and now: The Medium will be the best horror videogame of 2021. Don’t believe me? Watch the official live action trailer below, and join the believers…

While the world waits for a new Silent Hill game, Bloober Team has created something equally unsettling with their psychological horror game The Medium, available January 28th on Xbox Series X/S and PC.

I’ll admit, this trailer really got to me. I’m a skeptic about most games until I’ve played them, but this trailer managed to make my skin crawl and leave me wanting more. The live action trailer was created in cooperation with the VFX and animation studio Platige Image, Writer and Creative Producer Tomasz Bagiński, and directed by Paweł Maślona.

While little is known about the game’s overall plot, it was reportedly inspired by the work of painter Zdzisław Beksiński, and it follows a spiritual medium named Maryanne as she explores a haunted hotel in Krakow, Poland where a massacre took place.

A 14-minute gameplay sneak peek was released a few weeks ago, and it allows you to explore the haunted hotel setting simultaneously in the spiritual plane and in reality.

While it’s unclear how much Bloober Team was truly inspired by the Silent Hill franchise, the gameplay I’ve seen thus far tells me the creators are at least fans of the famed psychological horror series.

Given the hype created by the recent live-action trailer and the 14 minutes of gameplay, I’m beyond intrigued by The Medium.
