'What the Waters Left Behind: Scars' Trailer Tears a Rock Band Apart

Following some first-look images that were revealed last month, Minerva Pictures and Black Mandala Films have premiered the official trailer for their upcoming slasher sequel What the Waters Left Behind: Scars, directed by Nicolás Onetti (The 100 Candles Game, Abrakadabra, What the Waters Left Behind).

The trailer had its world premiere at Marche du Film (Festival de Cannes) on May 20th, during the Blood Window Showcase. Check it out below!

The sequel's plot centers on an Anglo-American indie rock band that ends up stranded in the desolate city of Epecuén. Their internal conflicts and the bad luck of their tour quickly fade when they begin to discover the bloody hell that awaits them.

Agustín Olcese, Clara Kovacic, Magui Bravi, Maria Eugenia Rigon, Juan Pablo Bishel, Matías Desiderio, Germán Baudino, Chucho Fernández, Paula Brasca, Mario Alarcón and David Michigan star.

Camilo Zaffora wrote the screenplay. Onetti serves as producer alongside Monica Ciarli, Michael Kraetzer and Carlos Goitia.

Shooting of What the Waters Left Behind: Scars took place in the atmospheric village of Epecuén, Argentina, the tourist resort near Buenos Aires that sat underwater for 25 years after a dam broke in 1985. The waters then receded several years ago and the ruins of Epecuén emerged exposing a bleak and deserted landscape. The residents never returned.

While we wait for news of a release date, you can currently watch What the Waters Left Behind on Prime Video and Screambox. If you're the physical media type, Unearthed Films previously released the movie on Blu-ray and DVD.
