Excellent news from the Concept Media camp this week, as two of their upcoming films have been picked up by Wild Eye Releasing. The sequel to the 2017 underground smash Don’t Fuck in the Woods, as well as the Bigfoot horror Stranded, will see distribution through the notorious label. No release date has been formally announced for either title, but given the crew behind both features, there’s plenty to get excited about already.
Don’t Fuck in the Woods 2 is written by Cheyenne Gordon and Shawn Burkett, the latter of whom directs the film also. Starring in the sequel are Brittany Blanton, Cheyenne Gordon, Mark Justice, Kaylee Williams, Jason Crow, Brandy Mason, and Alex Gottmann. The synopsis for the DFITW2 reads as such:
The counselors of Pine Hills Summer Camp are getting the grounds ready for the season. While they set up, a mysterious girl enters the camp after a night of bloodshed. And there are things following her as well.
The path to Stranded is still being forged, as the ongoing pandemic caused production to be ceased around three-quarters of the way through. As the numbers of cases of the virus decrease and the number of vaccines increases, Concept Media hopes to set new dates to finish the film proper.
The synopsis for Stranded is as follows:
After the death of their mother due to cancer, her children go to spread her ashes where she requested. Along the way, their car breaks down in the woods and they are beginning to realize that a very tall, very hairy creature is lurking outside.
Just as the case with DFITW2, Cheyenne Gordon writes alongside director Shawk Burkett. Starring are Brittany Blanton, Dale Miller, Payton Krebs, Mike Pleska, Tamara Glynn, and the reported 6’7” Rob Collins as Bigfoot.
It was the story behind Don’t Fuck in the Woods, which is told in great detail in the documentary What Happens in the Woods (review), that is incredibly compelling. The film’s unexpected success is a story to behold, and to boot, the actual film in question is a great creature feature that knows what it is and what it can handle. While I’m less interested in the age-old Bigfoot myth, the strength of Concept Media’s work and Burkett’s work is enough to have me interested regardless.
