Pro wrestling and horror go hand in hand, and the Ohio-made Powerbomb is a prime example of that. Following the tale of obsessed superfan Paul (Wes Allen) and indie wrestling darling Matt Cross (American Ninja Warrior, Lucha Underground), the film is a wild ride of kickouts and kidnapping. After seeing the film last year at the historic Maumee Indoor Theater (read my review here), I’ve been clamoring for a physical release or even a digital release, and it was announced today that such a thing is coming.
“Powerbomb is the story of an independent wrestler on the verge of breaking into the big time, but he’s contemplating leaving it all behind to spend more time with his family. When our wrestler’s biggest fan hears the news, he decides to take matters into his own hands to ensure that his champion gets to the top by any means necessary.”
Directed by the tag team of BJ Colangelo and Zach Shildwachter, the film stars the aforementioned Allen and Cross, along with Roni Jonah (Shark Exorcist), Cash Allen (The Legend of Holcomb Road), and Dr. Britt Baker (All Elite Wrestling Dynamite).
Powerbomb will see a home video and video on demand release on April 14th through Indican Pictures.
