Zack Snyder's 'Army of the Dead' Gets Its First Teaser Trailer

Look, the superhero movie fans can be stoked about the Snyder Cut of Justice League, but this film is infinitely more exciting to us gorehounds.

Zack Snyder is returning to the Dead franchise for a Netflix original film, the zombie heist Army of the Dead. If those two words sound like they don’t belong together, fair enough, but this project runs deeper than just a feature film, as a prequel series and anime have already been announced, both taking place in the same universe as Army.

Even better, Netflix gave nigh-complete creative freedom to Snyder, meaning we won’t need a #ReleaseTheSnyderCut for this film, as we’ll more or less already have it upon its May 21, 2021 release on Netflix.

And finally, after months of buzz and speculation, the first teaser for the film has made its way to the web. We get a feel for the grand scale the film will take place on, as we see multiple shots of a worn-down Las Vegas. It’s more flash than flayed limbs, but the trailer drives the action-adventure themes that Snyder’s 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake (his debut feature, lest we forget) carried with it.

Among the principle cast are, in no particular order, Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Ana de la Reguera, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer, Nora Arnezeder, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, Raúl Castillo, Huma Qureshi, Michael Cassidy, and Garret Dillahunt.

The film has also been given an R rating by the Motion Picture Association (MPA) for “strong bloody violence, gore and language throughout, some sexual content and brief nudity/graphic nudity.”
